A DAY DEDICATED TO THE ZILLION BATTLES A MILLION WOMEN FIGHT - Ayushi Gaur

The strength that is stored in an emotion for a person, event or a cause can never be given appropriate justice by only transforming it into a day to be celebrated. It is solely acknowledged by doing so. The day is always more than celebrations and contains broader thoughts, perspectives, reasons and issues which are addressed while we celebrate that one day. The 8th day of March is acknowledged as the day of all the women across the globe. This one day is recognized to portray respect and courtesy to all the ladies for everything that they have achieved in their lives. Although, it is always more than that. The struggles are always deeper than how much they seem to be visible, the rebellion for recognition is always more passionate than it is thought to be and the stories are always deeper than they are perceived to be. The journey of being a woman might not be the toughest but is surely special and unique.

This journey is always guided and restored by the people around a lady. But what plays a major role in deciding the life that will be led by any woman is the society that she dwells in. It is the country and the government that caters her with efficient laws and certain legal regulations that make this journey more dignified and more secured. Loopholes tend to creep in legal systems but India does hold various provisions for its female citizens. There are laws against any manner of sexual harassment, eve teasing, sati, dowry, molestation, etc. There also are Acts for their property rights, rights after marriage and rights to safeguard their interests in their workplace. Majority of the country is now also standing united against the Triple Talaaq Law which is currently functioning among the muslims of the country and there has been a wave of revolt against all the cruelties that it brings with it against women.

India has made the entire world witness some of the most successful female stories. Indian women are always looked upon for their hard work, culture and determination.

Women’s day is not just about lending one day of honor to women who work all their lives to color the world with their vibrance, intellect and generosity but it is about realizing that just lending this one day can never be enough to respect the lives of these women. It is about feeling and being inspired by the incredible success that they attain amidst all the hardships thrown at them.
