The Silver Stories

No offense please!

Jumping on your sofas with a bowl of sizzling popcorns watching an India Pakistan cricket match doesn’t stand enough for your patriotism for the country. Watching the Independence Day parade in the morning on DD National and buying flags and the next very morning which are lying on the floor in a disrespectful manner is not enough to portray yourself as an Indian.

It’s high time that we as the citizens of the largest democracy in the world now stand united and prove our real concern for where the nation is actually heading to. It’s high time people that we now start thinking of what do we actually require to grow as a country. It’s high time that we now take up issues that practically concern us and tamper our development in any manner. It’s high time that now we as the youth of India cease giving any attention to issues of complete orthodoxy and mock at the concept of we being in the 70th year of our freedom.

We are from a country where a PV Sindhu wins a silver medal in Olympics and the entire public starts praising feminism and then a couple secretly kills a female foetus. We then are also part of a country where a girl cannot go for a movie with her friends after dusky hours for if God forbid she gets raped, there will stand a bunch of people from the society commenting on her dress and what not. It won’t even take a minute for a politician to stand up in a press conference and shamelessly say “It is the girl to be blamed for exciting the man. Her dress was vulgar and why on the earth did she need to watch a night show?” I mean seriously people do we vote them to shame us publicly like this? No we don’t. We vote them to generate employment for us. We vote them to curb inflation and rising prices.

Tell me for how long will these politicians fight elections with communalism support? For how long will the UP elections rally entertain the Ram Mandir debate? Is it not the time that we stand united and tell them that it’s the security of girls that matters to us and not whether you will give the land to Hindus or Muslims. It is a conflict and is being taken care by the courts and eventually we will know the judgement. Do we still want to waste 5 more years of the state and not talk of how there will be an economy uplift in UP? A place which feeds so many stomachs.

It’s been 70 years of our Independence and we still could not move out of the perplexing web of reservations. I can bet you that most of us are already fed up with this biased system. It’s so raging to realize that a student who gave on his sleep, food and every thing worth relaxing to study hard for his boards and scoring a flashing 95 sitting in one of the best universities of the country with a guy who struggled to score even a 65% because he was busy partying only with a safety of being a SC. In a moment it makes us doubt the significance of hard work and merit. Look at the statistics and you will realize that there exist minorities and and Patidars and Jats who enjoy sumptuous lives and simultaneously exists a Brahmin farmer who facing financial crisis cannot even think of sending his only child to school. So breaking the monotony, let’s think do reservations in this 20th century need to be still on caste rather than economic conditions? Where people are taking an undue advantage of this. Isnt this a farse at the face of everybody who wants to reach heights on the worth of merit?

Do we realize that selling the skin of an already dead cow generates an income of 40 crores for the villages across India. Just because of some rigid and illogical ‘gau rakshaks’ there will be a crash in the economy. We now really need to take a stand. Are we seriously interested in someone who relishes beef curry? Of course not. We are more interested in knowing that what are going to be the advantages of LEMA signed by Manohar Parrikar with his US counterpart. We are more interested in knowing the details of Modi’s meetings with various leaders across the globe. We are more interested in knowing the benefits of the new education policy and the GDP growth of India. It’s high time that we shout out loud and let them know straight that we are no more going to be fooled.

We are the new India and we want to be called the citizens of a country with minimum of crime rates, a country with zero illiteracy, a country without traces of terrorism and effects of the ISIS. We need to ponder over why various families from Kerala are drifting towards these terrorist groups. Because this can be dangerous. Really dangerous. We need to now force these ruling governments to focus on such issues rather than on foods and occupations and dresses of people. This is how we will prove ourselves as true Indians. This is how we will represent our India in the global platform.
